AVG Spirit $150
by Dan Kelly
L/E of 1500 22” x 30”
Signed by five AVG “Flying Tigers”
In the dark days following the disastrous attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941, Japan ran like a steamroller over the Pacific, crushing the unprepared American and English forces wherever they went. But not in China and Burma!
There they met a formidable foe, the American Volunteer Group, better known as the AVG Flying Tigers. Flying obsolete P-40 Tomahawks, the AVG stopped the Japanese advancement in Burma and China, holding them at bay until being disbanded on July 4, 1942.
Winston Churchill said of these men, “The victories they have won in the air over the paddy fields of Burma may well prove comparable in character with those won over the orchards and hop fields of Kent in the battle of Britain.”
“AVG Spirit” vividly personifies the spirit of this very special group of Americans and their amazing achievements. It is a focal point in any home or office.
